Limeburner’s Point
Limeburner’s Point is popular with fishermen. The boat ramps are safe in all weathers. (This photo shows a day when strong winds made Corio Bay unusable by small boats, so the car park was deserted. At weekends this carpark is full to overflowing.)
There is a move from developers to build a conference centre on Limeburner’s Point, with a wall of apartments and hotels along the waterfront on what is currently an open shared path and quiet roadway adjoining Eastern Park. This road is currently used by numerous cycling events and triathlons throughout the year, and is part of the Master’s Games road events course.
The image below is a whimsical view of what a conference centre might look like. Imagine a wall of buildings across the parkland to the right of the building, and car parks encroaching into the park. Our quiet recreational area with stunning views would be gone forever.
